Biodegradable waste into biomethane: concepts for five European cities (DE)

Many regions in Europe still have problems managing their waste, while organic refuse can definitely be processed sustainably. Today, the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) in Kassel (Germany) presented the results of the ‘UrbanBiogas’ project at the ‘European Biomethane Workshop in Brussels. The project shows how local authorities and cities can process their biodegradable waste and turn it into biomethane, thus ensuring it is used sustainably.
