£3.2m from GIB to sow farm bio


The UK Green Investment Bank is pouring £3.2m into two anaerobic digestion projects on farms in Northern Ireland. The institution will work with its fund manager Foresight Group on the projects in Cookstown, County Tyrone, and Banbridge, County Down. Total investment in the duo will be £6.5m.The AD plants will be used by local livestock farmers and have been developed alongside their advisors KPMG. They are expected to be the first of several such projects in the region. AD is one of the most promising renewable energy technologies in Northern Ireland, the GIB said, with eight plants operational and the potential for this to grow to over 50 in the coming years.
