Biofuels exhaust phosphate reserves

The costs of phosphate exhaustion from biofuels grossly outweigh the profits made on the avoided CO2 emissions, according to a study by Wageningen University in the Netherlands. The use of large amounts of phosphate endangers future food production. The biofuel gained from plants is mixed with traditional petrol and diesel, in accordance with European guidelines, resulting in reduced C02 emissions.
