Biogas: Government expects diminishing use of corn

The German government anticipates a reduced use of corn in biogas plants. After the elections the German government will examine the Renewable Energies Act (EEG) and fundamentally change it if necessary.
Effects and interactions of the last Renewable Energies Act (EEG)  amendment need to be awaited before additional changes, for instance for maize, can be discussed. The upcoming monitoring report provided “the basis for a well-founded review of the situation”. The effects are carefully observed “to rebalance previous mismanagements and, if necessary, to rapidly recognize future needs for improvement”, the report states.
