Biogas industry gets in difficulties – plant construction collapsed. (Germany)

The biogas industry faces difficulties. The construction of new plants has nearly collapsed, said the President of the German Biogas Association, Josef Pellmeyer on wednesday in Leipzig. From 2009 until 2011 1000 new biogas plants had been connected to the grid. In 2012 the biogas plant construction collapsed below 300. As reasons he called the high raw material prices and acceptance problems. In addition, the EEG’s (Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz) provisions are too bureaucratic and complicated.
