Biomethane guide for decision makers (USA)

Biomethane is cleaned, upgraded and conditioned biogas and is used in gas vehicles. This biogas can be obtained from all organic matter and can help achieve the renewable energy generation targets for production of heat and electricity. Waste and manure are preferable substrates, while purpose grown crops offer large potential. Financial support for biogas from energy crops has to be developed in accordance with regional and agricultural conditions in order to avoid conflicts and undesirable developments. Biomethane has to compete with natural gas in sales prices, and therefore schemes are introduced. Aside from the financial support, the project also needs legal aspects to be successful.
