Cultivation of energy plants on Agritechnica 2013 (Germany)


Cultivation of biomass for energy production is still a major theme in agriculture.  According to information of the Agency for Renewable Resources, 2.12 million hectare were used for cultivation of energy and industrial crops across Germany in 2012. In particular the increased use of the third and fourth cut of permanent pasture for use in biogas plants is pointed out. Pure mathematically  21 percent of available farmland area in Germany now is attributable to the cultivation of renewable raw materials for energy production.
