Greater Auch methanization unit opened in France

The Greater Auch methanization unit and biogas production plant has been opened in France. Veolia's subsidiary SEDE Environnement operates the Biogaz du Grand Auch, which is situated in a farming area that is turned mainly toward the agrifoods sector. The regional methanization unit generates electricity and heat from organic waste from agriculture, the agrifoods industry, local authorities and collectors. The unit is capable of treating about 40,000 metric tons of organic waste per year and will produce 3.7 million cubic meters of biogas. The gas will then be used to produce 1.1MW of energy, which will meet the electricity consumption needs of 4,000 people a year.
