UK doubles number of anaerobic digestion plants in just two years


The UK has doubled the number of operating anaerobic digestion plants over the last two years, according to official figures released this week. The AD industry continues to develop with 110 AD plants in operation by July 2013, up from just 54 in June 2011 when the Government published its Anaerobic Digestion Strategy and Action Plan. Defra's second annual report identifies the highlights of the year, which include: The number of plants in the UK has risen to 110 up from 68 since the baseline was established as part of the AD Strategy in September 2011. More than 200 AD projects currently have received planning permission
